Global Sports Forum Barcelona 2010

Dear Alumni,

The Second Edition of the Global Sports Forum Barcelona will take place between 8 and 10 March 2010 at the Palau de Congresos de Catalunya in Barcelona.

Think today about the sport of tomorrow

With the Winter Olympics having just come to an end in Vancouver and the World Cup due to kick off in South Africa this summer, 2010 will be marked by sport and its huge influence and universal appeal. Halfway between these two planet-wide events, the Global Sports Forum Barcelona intends to debate the challenges sport faces today and to explore the difficulties it must overcome.

Among those who have been invited to share their points of view are current and former sportsmen and women, business leaders, the heads of large media groups, politicians, representatives of institutions and directors of foundations and NGOs. In short, a diverse group of professionals involved in the world of sport who will come together for this remarkable event over three days at the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya in Barcelona, where the Forum will be held until 2013. All will be looking to pose the questions that matter and suggest new and pertinent answers to the direction sport is likely to take in the coming months and years.

Hot topics introduced by high-quality speakers

The maiden edition of the Global Sports Forum, held in February 2009, dug the foundations for an event with long-term scope. It brought together more than 1,000 people from all over the world and provoked many rich and passionate debates. That first edition also ended with an agreement upon the eight themes at the core of the Global Sports Forum Barcelona 2010 programme: Sport and Education; Sport Business; Sport, Culture and Creativity; Sport and Health; Sport in the City; Sport and Geopolitics; Sport, Philanthropy and Cooperation; and Major Sport Events.

These themes will be explored in two-and-half days of debates, conferences and round tables, with discussions structured around four major challenges that will prove decisive for the evolution of sport and society as a whole: sustainable development, the digital age, the new world map of sports and youth integration.

These focal points will be tackled by more than 60 international experts, including:

- Special guest Evans Lescouflair, the Haitian Minister for Youth, Sport and Civic Action; and also
