6th FGV FIFA MASTER ALUMNI Seminar to take place in Rio

The Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) - CIES’s partner in Brazil on the organisation of the FIFA/CIES Executive Programme in Sports Management - is organising, with the support of the FMA, the 6th FGV FIFA Master Alumni Seminar in Sport Management, which will take place on 26 August in Rio de Janeiro.

The event will bring together industry professionals to discuss contemporary subjects in the sports industry in Brazil and worldwide. Among the topics to be addressed are strategies to promote transformations in sport, new platforms to publish content, best communication practices, fan engagement and other issues for the development of the sports industry.

For the academic coordinator of the Getulio Vargas Foundation course in management, marketing and sports law, Pedro Trengrouse, Brazilian sports need a disruptive innovation. According to him, new technologies are promoting ever faster transformations in modern society, and industry professionals need to be alert to new models so they do not fall behind.

"For the clubs, it is not enough just to improve management and continue to offer more of the same. The fragmentation of the consumption of entertainment and information through the most varied channels is an opportunity to cultivate stronger relationships with fans and sponsors”, says Pedro Trengrouse, a FIFA Master Alumnus (Class of 2004).

That opinion shared by speaker Marcus Vinicius Freire, former executive director of the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB), who recently studied at Singularity University, California, located in the research park of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). "Science and technology are key ingredients in the new culture of preparation for the athlete. I will tell you a bit about my COB experience and everything I have learned from studying in the USA", he says.

Broadcasters and Social Networks - At the event, some speakers will also comment on how technology changes, in an increasingly accelerated way, the medium of proliferation of the sport. If before there was a huge dependence on television, other means are now being strengthened to create alternatives to the model. The journalist specialised in the segment Mariucha Moneró will also report on how athletes and sports brands have gained a great ally in the daily dispute for expanding communication with social networks and show that, if well used, it can bring significant results to the sporting world.
