Pema Tshering leads Sunrise Women’s FC to Bhutan's Women’s National Football League Champion Title

FIFA Master alumna Pema Tshering (Class of 2021) from Bhutan was instrumental in the campaign that saw her team Sunrise Women’s FC win the Kelme Bhutan Women’s National Football League 2021. The final match of the competition happened on 28 November 2021.

Sunrise Women’s FC went into the final match of the competition three points ahead their rivals, Ugyen Academy, and needed only a draw to be crowned champions, however Ugyen opened the score right at the beginning of the match.

Sunrise equalised in the first half and on the second part of the game, Pema, who’s also vice-captain of the team, scored the winning goal.

When asked to comment on her achievement, Pema stressed that it’s still very early days for women’s football in Bhutan and just wanted to say that “if we get sponsors the women's league will really improve, so if anyone is interested [in sponsoring us] please let me know”.
